Carolina Bbq and Chicken in Roanoke Rapids

Went there last weekend and had some good bbq and pulled chicken. Delicious!!

The service was great, but the food..EHHH. This is not country cooking at its finest. Everything was bland and tasteless. I get it, everyone is health conscience, but I expected more. You could use Mrs dash to.give the food a little flavor. I will say the chicken was decent. I wouldn't go back again.

My family and I went to Carolina BBQ after seeing the sign. We were disappointed with the food, the food on the buffet was not hot, the mac n cheese, was very bland, the pork BBQ looked like it had been through a food grinder, and several things were labeled wrong or not labeled. For a place advertising BBQ chicken, you would think there would be BBQ chicken....thre is not. They do have fried chicken.There were a few items that were great, the corn bread came out hot and fresh and was amazing, the flounder was good, and my husband loved the frog legs.The steamed shrimp were well seasoned and easy to peal.

Stopped in because their BBQ is some of the best in these parts. Got my sandwich with slaw to go.

Never ate here before. Chose this place because it was a buffet and I needed to eat quickly and be on my way. I was totally surprised with the variety of food on the buffet, both meat and vegatables. Tender baby back ribs and beef ribs, fried chicken and more. Best barbeque I've had - clean, tender, moist, and sauced to perfection. Veggies were cooled southern style and were very tasty. Huge salad bar and big choice of deserts. Pecan pie was devine. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great meal.

The server we had was really nice, but the food wasn't good at all. That's not even the problem though... At the register we were asked by the manager/owner (not sure which she was) how was everything. So... I told her the food wasn't good at all and she responded "well I hate to tell you your server charged you the wrong price" then she charged two more dollars after I told her the food sucked! She had no interest in the fact that we didn't like the food! We will not go there ever again! In fact we are on the phone with a friend that would stop there and eat if in town, but they won't be now! Word of mouth means a lot!

Some good home cooking

My grandson and I stopped in to eat on a Saturday SPECIFICALLY for frog legs. I was completely disappointed with the batter and was truly not fond that the legs looked as tho they just chopped them in half right off the frog. Id have preferred them seperated. The batter was too thick, too overpowering for that delicacy. We may try again in the future. That said, they have a LOT of delicious choices. Entree buffet, salads buffet, desserts buffet...so literally all varied tastes in any family could be well accomodated here.

I had a very good meal, all the food, desserts, and sweet tea was great, cooked and seasoned perfectly. The buffet give you so many choices. Beef ribs, sausage, chicken, pig feet, fat back, get there.

This was the BEST Carolina Chicken and Barbecue I've ever been to! The food was hot fresh and very tasty! I was most impressed with waitress and manager. I'm coming back and bringing others with me.A great culinary experience!!!

Our waiter, Keith, knows what we want and immediately spots us when we pull up in the parking lot! Food is hot and there is a large buffet to suit anyone’s wants!

Our visit today was great! The food was good and the service was excellent. The stew was delicious and needed.

Food was so so. A lot of pork was full of fat; you had to pick thru it. The meat on my spare ribs was a little tough. By far the best option were their selection of veggies. Restaurant is a little rundown. Appears to be an old chain steakhouse building or something. And finally, the staff was very nice and accommodating. I travel I-95 twice week of business. I may give them another try.....

Well, I was there a couple of times this day. First, to confirm pick up of a previously placed order, and then to make an additional order. The restaurant was fairly empty earlier around noon. On my return, the restaurant was quite full. You can seat yourself, but there was somewhat of a wait if you needed to place or pick up an order. The hostess was back and forth to the kitchen leaving the front unattended. It seems they need to have someone designated as cashier and someone else as hostess. One woman just wanted a couple of gallons of tea, and she waited a good 15 minutes to get them after ordering/paying. Other than that, I got 20 pieces of baked chicken for my church group which was very delicious.

What a great find!! True southern bbq and buffet style to boot!! Great pork and beef bbq, plenty of sides to choose from homemade desserts... will definitely be back!! Service was awesome and it's right off the freeway.

Arrived Sunday morning when they opened and was a bit disappointed. It was my first time visiting. Let me say the staff was very nice and accommodating. First thing I noticed was our shoes was sticking to the rug around the table and on our way to the buffet. The food was fried quite a bit to much, fish, oysters, and crabcakes. Steamed shrimp, very good but barely warm. The bbq and slaw was awesome! Salad and dessert bar was very good. Will I visit again when I'm in the area? I may give it a try to see if it's improved. Maybe they had a new cook. Please have the rugs cleaned.

The ABSOLUTE most amazing delicious food! If I could give 10 stars for taste I would. If you are looking for good down home cooking, stop here. Barbecue is good but the eye opener can be any of the other Scrumpshus possibilities. There is a great variety of food on the buffet as well as the menu. Friendly staff and the price of the buffet drives it home. What a bargain! Carry out food is available and catering orders. It did get a little warm in there but as good as the food was, I'd sit on the tailgate of my truck and eat if I needed to. You are in the south. My pics don't put a dent in the choices.

The food in the buffet appeared to have been sitting there forever. It really grossed me out. I attempted to eat because I was really hungry but was extremely disappointed in everything I had. If your like me and love some good BBQ, look elsewhere! The waitress was very nice! That was the only good thing.

It was dirty selection of food was OK, but not great. The hostess was really nice, but I had to go ask for our drinks after we had been sitting already. With the Name CAROLINA BBQ, I was expecting different types of BBQ, instead the had one and only two choices of sauce.

This is the reason I got south to get that southern soul food, for $10.00 all you can eat is a great deal , the trick is to eat small portions and eat slowly. The food is ok but I which they smoked or grilled the meat as it tasted more like oven cooked soul food.

Fantastic food. Pulled pork was excellent, perfect "Eastern NC" style, fried chicken was juicy, Brunswick stew was phenomenal, best black eyed peas I've ever tasted, out of this world turnip and collard greens, great pecan pie and sweet potato pie, fast and friendly service. I'll be back!!!! Apologies to "Ralph's" but this place is better.

Stopped in the way back from the beach. The food was great and the place struck me as a good old southern restaurant with a great variety of fish, great bbq, oysters, clams, greens, corn, etc. The fried chicken was spectacular. The place is about 70 miles from us so we are making plans already to go back in the future and enjoy their food and good will.

Mystery meat and mystery mush, after the numerous other complaints my family have discussed, in short please avoid this location. The afternoon lunch started off with entering the establishment, the floors were sticky and the buffet looked like a COVID breading ground. We looked over the menu and we asked about the BBQ Plate, the response was a bit underwhelming, “well, it’s BBQ”. After receiving our food we had a long conversation and still can’t identify what the mystery meat was and I am upset I never asked. It was gray with small parts, no flavor and I fear it was made from local stray animals. We never got BBQ sauce and had to specifically ask for it, could have easily been any no-brand flavor from a discount store. We were looking forward to brisket with that Carolina vinegar BBQ sause. The mystery mush was called slaw, the flavor and color was anything but slaw.

Tasty variety and a great choice if buffet. I recommend!

Delicious Bar-b-que and the Best Black-eyed Peas I've ever eaten!This is a local place (not a chain as far as I can tell) with local charm and delicious food. We didn't see vinegar sauce but their house sauce is good. Don't come here for anything fancy - come for the food.They have a buffet, but my wife and I didn't want to pack in a big meal so ordered the chopped BBQ plate with fries and hushpuppies. The waiter told us we could get a veggie from the buffet instead of fries, I saw the black-eyed peas, ordered them, and was amazed. The canned Glory brand are my favorite, and these made even them look bland.Enough reading. Go and eat there.

Definitely some of the best Southern/Soul Food I've ever had! Amazing variety on the buffet and the staff is awesome! I'm in town driving clients, but when I return I will definitely be coming back here to eat!!!

Monday is "1/2 price for seniors" day! The selection is always tasty and the crowd is always there. Best times are lunch or 4pm. The manager Diane is always hospitable to her customers. And she works all stations!

Church had ordered chicken for dinner.I had to pick it up and the staff was very helpful in getting it to my car for me.And the congregation enjoy the chicken very much!!!!

My cousin's and I went here for lunch. They were in the mood for barbecue, and I wanted chicken. This place had both and more at the buffet.The waitress who took our drink orders was friendly, and even chatted with my enthusiastic five-year-old cousin. The buffet has a decent selection of seafood, but I wouldn't necessarily call it a seafood place.I can't think of any complaints - for a buffet at that price, it was very good.
